“Tak lama setelah Hercules sibuk di sarang lama bekas Novi, hari menjadi gelap. Dan Hercules masih tetap disitu dan tak bergerak. Kemungkinan dia benar-benar tidur di sarang ini.”, ujar Inoy saat mengamati pulau dari camp pantau.

“Ini adalah berita yang menggembirakan. Permulaan yang baik untuk perkembangan Hercules. Harapan itu tak pernah putus, kami di COP Borneo pun menjadi lebih bersemangat lagi. Bahwa tak ada yang tak mungkin!”, tegas Reza Kurniawan, manajer pusat rehabilitasi COP Borneo.

Hercules adalah orangutan jantan dari kebun binatang, tepatnya Kebun Raya Unmul Samarinda/KRUS. Tahun 2010 yang lalu, Hercules adalah orangutan yang sangat nakal hingga berulang kali keluar dari kandang tanpa jeruji besi/enclosure untuk makan dari warung. Tubuhnya yang besar sempat membuat takut animal keeper yang lain. Namun perkembangan Hercules seperti berhenti, orangutan yang seumuran dengannya berkembang lebih pesat lagi seiring dengan kemampuan bertahan di alam mereka. Seperti membuat sarang, memanjat, mencari pakan alami bahkan bertahan hidup dengan berkelahi dengan orangutan lainnya. Orangutan lainnya, yang sebelumnya menghuni pulau orangutan bersama Hercules sedang menjalani masa karantina untuk pelepasliaran kembali ke habitatnya. Sementara Hercules ditinggal karena kemampuannya bertahan hidup dianggap tidak memenuhi prasyaratan pelepasliaran tersebut. “Kini, kami bisa kembali berharap, Hercules pun punya harapan untuk kembali ke habitatnya.”, ujar Inoy dengan semangat. Kebutuhan fungsi dari smart phone sendiri sudah dirasa sangat penting dalam menjaga komunikasi di sektor pekerjaan maupun kehidupan pribadi. Hampir seluruh hal bisa dilakukan dengan smart phone seperti SMS, berbicara, nonton TV, edit foto maupun video bahkan untuk mengerjakan laporan. Komunikasi menjadi hal yang sangt penting bagi kehidupan sekarang. Ini semua tergantung dengan ketersediaan sinyal telepon maupun internet. CAMP PANTAU ORANGUTAN TERANG DENGAN TENAGA SURYA
Rusaknya mesin genset di pos pantau atau camp monitoring pulau orangutan COP Borneo menjadi kondisi malam hari di pulau gelap gulita. Tim terpaksa bolak balik ke kampung untuk mengisi baterai senter maupun alat komunikasi lainnya dengan menumpang di rumah-rumah warga secara bergantian. Tentu saja ini memperlambat pekerjaan.

Kehadiran dua orang warga Samarinda yang kebetulan tinggal di kampung Merasa, Kalimantan Timur berhasil memperbaiki surya panel untuk menghidupkan listrik. “Terimakasih bang Simangunsong dan bang Siregar! Sekarang listrik camp pantau sudah menyala 24 jam. Tentu saja ini semakin menunjang aktivitas kami.”, ujar Inoy senang karena tak harus mondar-mandir ke kampung lagi.

Kami juga masih memerlukan beberapa panel surya untuk camp di pusat rehabilitasi orangutan COP Borneo, Berau, Kalimantan Timur.
