VOLCANIC ASH ENVELOPED PAKEM, YOGYAKARTA
The eruption of Mount Merapi on Friday morning seen from the APE Warrior camp in Yogyakarta apparently has a column height of 5,500 m from the top of the crater. Mount Merapi located in the districts of Klaten, Magelang, Boyolali and Sleman was throwing volcanic ash, sand and meterial piroklatik.
“The eruption is a phreatic eruption that is caused by a boost of water vapor pressure caused by the contact of water masses with heat under the crater of Mount Merapi,” said Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, head of the Information Data and Public Relations Center of the National Disaster Relief Agency.
“The status of Mount Merapi to date is still normal (level I) with a dangerous radius at 3 km from the top of the crater.”
The ash rain reached the APE Warrior camp. APE Warrior Team with Orangufriends Yogyakarta immediately coordinate with related parties and conduct initial assessment for disaster management if needed later. The team raised the drones in Pakem sub-district, Sleman district, Yogyakarta Special Region in the afternoon. Volcanic ash has enveloped this district. (LSX)
ABU VULKANIK MENYELIMUTI PAKEM, YOGYAKARTA
Letusan gunung Merapi pada Jumat pagi yang terlihat dari camp APE Warrior Yogyakarta ternyata mempunyai tinggi kolom 5.500 m dari puncak kawahnya. Gunung Merapi yang berada di kabupaten Klaten, Magelang, Boyolali dan Sleman itu melontarkan abu vulkanik, pasir dan meterial piroklatik.
“Letusan yang terjadi adalah letusan freatik yaitu akibat dorongan tekanan uap air yang terjadi akibat kontak massa air dengan panas di bawah kawah gunung Merapi.”, kata Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, kepala Pusat Data Informasi dan Humas Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana melalui rilis.
“Status gunung Merapi hingga saat ini masih tetap normal (level I) dengan radius berbahaya di 3 km dari puncak kawah.”.
Hujan abu pun sampai di camp APE Warrior. Tim APE Warrior bersama Orangufriends Yogyakarta segera berkoordinasi dengan pihak terkait dan melakukan assessment awal untuk penanggulangan bencana jika diperlukan nantinya. Tim menaikkan drone di kecamatan Pakem, kabupaten Sleman, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta pada siang harinya. Abu vulkanik telah menyelimuti kecamatan ini.
