LET’S HELP JOJO NOT TO CRY AGAIN

Here he is, the noisy Jojo. Jojo always cried hysterically when he could not attend the forest school class. Last Saturday morning when the cage door opened, Jojo wanted to get out and go to the forest school. Pity, that day was not Jojo’s turn to join forest school.

Jojo cried hard, rolling in the cage. He was angry because he was not invited to forest school. Because the tears didn’t stop, Wety persuaded Jojo to be quiet. And when the animal keeper reopened the cage, Jojo stopped crying at once. Immediately he came out and grabbed the keeper’s body. Finally we brought Jojo to the forest school.

Arriving at the location of the forest school, Jojo soon climbed through the tree roots. Every now and then he looked at the keeper from above. He looked very happy to be able to play at the forest school area. “Unfortunately, the forest school schedule must still be implemented because of the limited number of animal keepers at Borneo COP,” said Wety Rupiana, coordinator of the only orangutan rehabilitation center established by Indonesian youths.

Let’s help Borneo COP to add to the animal keeper, by donating through https://www.kitabisa.com/orangindo4orangutan (EBO)

POPI TAKES A NAP

Are you missing Popi? Popi is an orangutan who joined the COP Borneo orangutan rehabilitation center since she was born. Can you imagine how small and weak she was at that time? And thanks to your support, COP Borneo employs a special baby sitter to take care of her. Thankfully, Popi was able to go through her days well. Even her weight is now 8 kg.

Little Popi is increasingly active in the forest school class. Popi is often seen playing alone at the root of trees. However, when Bonti and Happi were busy making a nest, Popi slowly approached them. When Popi was stunned to pay attention to Bonti and Happi who were busy making nests, then Wety was busy recording what Popi was doing. Wety, the baby sitter who is now the coordinator of the COP Borneo rehabilitation center just like a mother to Popi. A mother who is still worried when her foster children are out of reach, in the trees. What are you afraid of? “Fear of Popi might fall if she chose wrong root or branch to move,” said Wety Rupiana.

Well, after Bonti and Happi’s nest were done, Popi approached them closer. Popi takes a break in their nest. “Take a nap.” (EBO)

POPI NUMPANG TIDUR SIANG

Popi pun semakin mendekati mereka. Popi ikut istirahat di sarang buatan mereka. “Numpang tidur siang.” (WET)

AMBON ENJOYED YOUR GIFT

The durian season has arrived. Durian fruit is one of the trees that grows in the Kalimantan rainforest. Donation from https://kitabisa.com/orangindo4orangutan to buy durian which apparently is the fruit that orangutans are waiting for at the COP Borneo orangutan rehabilitation centre. This time, the team managed to document Ambon eating durian.

With his teeth, Ambon bit the durian fruit, opened its outside part then immediately devoured the durian meat hidden inside. This time, there are three durian meat in one chamber, slowly he suck them until completely clean. “Ambon really enjoys eating durian,” said Wety Rupiana, COP Borneo coordinator.

Ambon is an adult orangutan who spends his life behind bars. Being born and raised at the zoo makes him difficult to live independently in the forest. Last year, Ambon was released on the orangutan island. In less than a day, Ambon could climb his first tree. “This had made the team happy, and dreamed that Ambon would be released back into its habitat. But a month after that, Ambon looked depressed. Finally Ambon returned to the quarantine cage”, explained Reza Kurniawan, COP APE Guardian coordinator.

This year, COP Borneo is planning to release Ambon on the orangutan island again. The team will re-evaluate the results. Hopefully this time Ambon will be better and enjoy life more on the island of orangutans. (EBO)

AMBON MENIKMATI DURIAN PEMBERIANMU
