HELP ORANGUTANS THROUGH ART FOR ORANGUTAN

Art is an universal languages that can be accepted by many. it will become a medium to deliver current issues on what happened to orangutans. The artists, with their creativities, will show the themes of orangutan thru their arts. All the spirit is summarized by Art for Orangutan (AFO) in the form of an art exhibition that has been visited by many people.

There were 122 art works with around 1500 visitors when the 2nd AFO was held in 2016. The exhibition that was held for 4 days had it own attraction for people to visit, see, respond, and understand the condition of our current orangutans. The support for orangutans was flowing in every way.

Another energy from AFO is the collective works of Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) supporters who are members of Orangufriends with several art communities such as Gigi Nyala, IAM Project, etc. All agreed that AFO is an art activity that is not to be affiliated with the interested parties of orangutans, especially for event supporters or sponsorship.

The fundraising is expected to cover the cost of gallery and musical instruments rental, catalogue printing and transportation for performers/panelists. BANTU ORANGUTAN LEWAT ART FOR ORANGUTAN
Seni adalah bahasa universal yang bisa diterima oleh orang banyak, akan menjadi jembatan untuk menyampaikan isu terkini pada apa yang terjadi dengan orangutan. Para seniman dengan kreatifitas tersendiri akan menyampaikan tema-tema orangutan melalui karyanya. Semangat itu yang dirangkum oleh Art for Orangutan (AFO) menjadi sebuah pameran seni yang banyak dikunjungi oleh orang.

Ada 122 karya seni dengan jumlah pengunjung sekitar 1500 orang saat AFO kedua di tahun 2016 yang lalu. Pameran yang berlangsung selama 4 hari ini menjadi magnet tersendiri untuk orang-orang datang, melihat, merespon dan mengerti hingga memahami kondisi orangutan terkini. Dukungan untuk orangutan pun mengalir dengan deras dengan caranya masing-masing.

Semangat lain dari AFO adalah kerja kolektif anggota pendukung Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) yang tergabung dalam Orangufriends dengan beberapa komunitas seni seperti Gigi Nyala, IAM Project dll. Semua sepakat bahwa AFO adalah kegiatan seni yang mencoba untuk tidak berkonflik kepentingan bagi orangutan, terutama dengan para pendukung acara atau sponsorship.

Penggalangan dana ini diharapkan bisa menutupi pengeluaran biaya seperti sewa galeri, alat musik, cetak katalog dan transportasi pengisi acara. 60 TYPES OF FRUITS ARE WAITING FOR ORANGUTAN’S HELP

For one month after the release of Novi and Leci orangutans, the APE Guardian team has identified 84 types of fruit trees. 80% of them are are natural orangutan food. When orangutans eat fruits in the forest, they will become an distribution agent of the fruit trees in the forest.

Lets say Novi is eating rambutan forest, and shortly after he moves, explores, and finally rests after walking for about 2 kms. In between, he, he poops. The seeds from the fruits he ate can not be digested and eventually came out with the feces.

In the afternoon, Novi begin to break the twigs, braiding them to become a nest throughout the night. the fallen leaves looks scattered on the ground mixed with dirt. In the morning, the sun starts to break through the forest canopy trying to reach the forest floor to grow sprouts in lieu of old, dead trees.

Without orangutans, it is almost impossible for the sunlight to reach the ground to help the sprouts grow. Without orangutans, it is impossible for fruit tree seeds to spread. Yes… the forests needs orangutans to enrich them. (SAR)

60 JENIS BUAH MENANTIKAN BANTUAN ORANGUTAN
Selama satu bulan sejak pelepasan orangutan Novi dan Leci, tim APE Guardian sudah mengidentifikasi 84 jenis pohon buah. 80% nya merupakan pakan orangutan. Jadi saat orangutan memakan buah-buahan yang tersedia di hutan ini, orangutan pun mulai menjadi agen persebaran buah tersebut.

Sebut saja, rambutan hutan yang sedang dimakan Novi, tak lama kemudian, Novi berpindah tempat, menjelajah dan akhirnya beristirahat setelah berjalan sejauh sekitar 2 km. Di sela-sela istirahatnya, Novi berak, biji dari buah-buahan yang dimakannya tidak bisa dicerna dan akhirnya keluar bersama kotorannya.

Sore harinya, Novi mulai mematah-matahkan ranting, menjalinnya untuk dijadikan sarang sepanjang malamnya. Guguran daun-daun terlihat berserakan di lantai hutan bercampur dengan kotoran. Saat pagi dan matahari mulai menerobos di antara kanopi hutan berusaha mencapai lantai hutan untuk menumbuhkan tunas-tunas sebagai pengganti pohon-pohon yang tua dan mati.

Tanpa orangutan, hampir tak mungkin sinar matahari yang sangat dibutuhkan tunas-tunas tersebut sampai di lantai hutan. Tanpa orangutan tak mungkin biji-biji pohon buah itu berpindah tempat. Ya… hutan butuh orangutan untuk memperkaya dirinya.

SAVE ORANGUTAN AT WANATIRTA BONTANG

Do you still remember the case of three burned orangutans in Belimbing village, Bontang city in 2016? The Bontang District Court sentenced Andi Sahar, 1 year 6 month prison, 1 month subsidies and a fine of IDR 50,000,000 for intentionally burning empty land to expel orangutans.

The crime scene is adjacent to the Wanatirta forest area. In the area, at the end of November 2018, the APE Crusader team found 9 class C orangutan nests. The nests class were identified as old nests with dried and brown leaves but they were still sturdy and shaped.

Not far from the Wanatirta forest area, around 4 km is the Kutai National Park which is indeed an orangutan’s habitat. COP called on the Bontang City Government to pay attention to the conservation of orangutans which are critically endangered (CR) animals. Not only Bontang City Government, but all parties around Wanatirta. Orangutans are Indonesia’s pride. (EBO)

SELAMATKAN ORANGUTAN WANATIRTA BONTANG
Masih ingatkah kasus tiga orangutan yang terbakar di kelurahan Belimbing, kota Bontang tahun 2016 yang lalu? Pengadilan Negeri Bontang menjatuhkan vonis kepada Andi Sahar, penjara 1 tahun 6 bulan, subsidir 1 bulan dan denda Rp 50.000.000,00 karena sengaja membakar lahan kosong untuk mengusir orangutan.

Lokasi kematian tiga orangutan tersebut berdekatan dengan kawasan hutan Wanatirta. Di kawasan tersebut, pada akhir November 2018, tim APE Crusader menemukan 9 sarang orangutan kelas C. Kelas sarang tersebut diidentifikasi sebagai sarang tua dengan daun yang sudah kering dan berwarna coklat tetapi sarang masih kokoh dan berbentuk.

Tak jauh dari kawasan hutan Wanatirta, sekitar 4 km ada Taman Nasional Kutai yang memang merupakan habitat orangutan. COP menghimbau agar Pemerintah Kota Bontang ikut memperhatikan pelestarian orangutan yang merupakan satwa dengan kondisi kritis terancam punah atau critically endangered (CR). Tak hanya Pemkot Bontang, tetapi semua pihak yang berada di sekitar Wanatirta, Orangutan adalah kebanggaan Indonesia.
