NORTH SUMATRA REGIONAL POLICE, WHERE DID THE TRADER OF 4 ORANGUTANS CASE GO?

Illegal trading case of four orangutan babies in Medan two years ago has been losing its track. Certain criminal act unit of Police Headquarter Criminal Investigation Agency (Tipidter Bareskrim Mabes Polri), Centre for Orangutan Protection, JAAN and Animals Indonesia exposed the largerst orangutan trading with the capture of Zulfikar aka Buyung on July 26, 2016. Even so, after the case was handed over to North Sumatera Police, the legal process has been unknown.”, said Hery Susanto, Coordinator of Anti Wildlife Crime COP

Buyung the suspect was caught with the evidences of 3 orangutan babies in iron cage wrapped in plastic and one orangutan in plastic rice sack in Maksum city, South Medan Area, Medan. Orangutans are protected animal and become a high conservacy priority by the Republic of Indonesia government.

“This is the largest orangutan trading that has ever existed. How is the legal proceeding? While the trader of one individual orangutan caught in Kp. Rambutan terminal, Jakarta, on July 24, 2016 with Hendri Yarsudi as the suspect was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months imprisonment and fined Rp 100.000.00,00. Even that is not even to the loss it is caused. Yet this one in Medan had evidences of 4 babies orangutan!”, Hery Susanto added. (SAR)

POLDA SUMUT, KEMANA KASUS PEDAGANG 4 ORANGUTAN 2016?
Kasus perdagangan ilegal empat bayi orangutan di Medan dua tahun yang lalu hingga saat ini tak ada kabar berita. “Tipidter Bareskrim Mabes Polri, Centre for Orangutan Protection, JAAN dan Animals Indonesia pada 26 Juli 2016 membongkar perdagangan orangutan terbesar dengan tertangkapnya Zulfikar alias Buyung. Namun setelah kasus dilimpahkan ke Polda Sumatera Utara, proses hukum tidak diketahui.”, ujar Hery Susanto, kordinator Anti Wildlife Crime COP.

Tersangka Buyung tertangkap tangan dengan barang bukti 3 bayi orangutan dalam kandang besi berbungkus plastik dan satu individu orangutan di dalam karung beras plastik di kota Maksum, kecamatan Medan Area Selatan, Medan. Orangutan merupakan satwa dilindungi dan menjadi prioritas konservasi tinggi oleh pemerintah Republik Indonesia.

“Ini adalah kasus perdagangan orangutan terbesar yang pernah ada. Bagaimana proses hukumnya? Sedangkan proses hukum pedagang satu individu orangutan yang tertangkap di terminal Kp. Rambutan, Jakarta pada 24 Juli 2016 dengan terdakwa Hendri Yarsudi telah di vonis 1 tahun 8 bulan penjara dan denda Rp 100.000.000,00. Itu saja tidak setimpal dengan kerugian yang diakibatkan. Sementara yang di Medan ini dengan barang bukti 4 individu bayi orangutan!”, tambah Hery Susanto.

COP GOES TO SOLAR ELECTRICITY

COP SENDS SUPPORT LETTER TO NORTH SUMATERA BKSDA TO TAKE OVER THE ORANGUTAN FROM THS

Boncel and Ina the orangutan are two individuals who entered Siantar Animal Park (THS) a month ago. Those orangutans are allegedly local’s property who were handed over to THS. Physically, they’re pretty good and decent to enter a rehabilitation center before release back to its nature. North Sumatera has a good facilities of Orangutan rehabilitation center, in Sibolangit, North Sumatera to be exact. The track record shows the credibility of the one and only orangutan rehabilitation center in Sumatera. There’s no way else, THS must deliver the orangutan to the state, to undergo a rehabilitation process, before return back to the wild.

The future of the orangutan is still far away. And the rehabilitation process is one of right moves in the effort to increase the Sumateran Orangutan population in the wild which is nearly extinct. BKSDA of North Sumatera has full authority to this matter and COP fully support them to take a decisive action to evacuate the orangutan from THS and send them to Orangutan rehabilitation center.

Thursday, July 19, 2018, Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) sent a support letter for North Sumatera BKSDA, with copies to The Director General KSDAE, The Secretariat of Directorate General KSDAE, and the Directorate of KKH, to evacuate Boncel and Ina the orangutan from THS and do an effort of rehabilitation to those two individuals of orangutan. COP KIRIM DUKUNGAN KE BKSDA SUMUT UNTUK AMBIL ORANGUTAN DARI THS
Orangutan Boncel dan Ina adalah dua individu orangutan yang masuk ke Taman Hewan Siantar (THS) sebulan yang lalu. Orangutan tersebut diduga dari kepemilikan masyarakat yang diserahkan kepada THS. Secara fisik, orangutan tersebut cukup baik dan layak dimasukkan ke pusat rehabilitasi sebelum dikembalikan menuju ke alam. Sumatera Utara memiliki fasilitas pusat penyelamatan orangutan yang baik, tepatnya di Sibolangit, Sumatera Utara. Rekam jejak menunjukkan kredibilitas pusat rehabilitasi orangutan satu-satunya di Sumatera. Tidak ada alasan lain, THS harus menyerahkan satwa tersebut kepada negara untuk kemudian menjalani proses rehabilitasi sebelum dikembalikan ke alam.

Masa depan orangutan tersebut masih panjang dan proses rehabilitasi untuk pelepasliaran adalah salah satu langkah yang baik untuk dilakukan dalam upaya peningkatan populasi orangutan Sumatera di alam yang terancam punah. BKSDA Sumut memiliki wewenang penuh akan hal ini dan COP mendukung upaya tegas untuk mengevakuasi orangutan dari THS untuk masuk Pusat Rehabilitasi Orangutan.

Kamis, 19 Juli 2018, Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) mengirimkan surat dukungan kepada BKSDA Sumatera Utara dengan tembusan Dirjen KSDAE, Setdijen KSDAE dan Dir KKH untuk melakukan evakuasi orangutan Boncel dan Ina dari THS dan melakukan upaya rehabilitasi bagi kedua individu orangutan tersebut.
