SPOILED MICHELLE BECOMES INDEPENDENT

When the cage door was lifted, Michelle crawled, stepped out and climbed onto the tower on the pre-release island of the COP Borneo. Fruits are available in the tower. Michelle stayed silent while watching the team lift the transport cage that had just taken her. When the team got on the boat and began to move away, Michelle remained in her tower.

From across the island, the team observed Icel’s movements. Icel, Michelle’s nickname, looks comfortable in the tower. Occasionally she is seen holding a rope that connects the tower to the surrounding trees. But Icel did not leave the tower.

“How long will Icel stay there? During in the forest school classes, Icel was noted to have most often approached animal care. She rarely roams, and if she spends time in a tree, it is because the animal keepers threaten her with rattan thorns. Taking her to forest school often only becomes a nuisance for other small orangutans. Its bigger body also makes it difficult for animal nurses. That is why, when the orangutan island is empty, Icel has the opportunity to live independently on this island. And … “, said Reza Kurniawan, COP Borneo manager, interrupted when seeing Icel, who was in the middle of a rope that was exploring the tree opposite the tower. “See … Icel started her new life!” Exclaimed Reza.

“Lihat… Icel memulai kehidupan barunya!”, seru Reza.
