HELP ORANGUTANS THROUGH ART FOR ORANGUTAN

Art is an universal languages that can be accepted by many. it will become a medium to deliver current issues on what happened to orangutans. The artists, with their creativities, will show the themes of orangutan thru their arts. All the spirit is summarized by Art for Orangutan (AFO) in the form of an art exhibition that has been visited by many people.

There were 122 art works with around 1500 visitors when the 2nd AFO was held in 2016. The exhibition that was held for 4 days had it own attraction for people to visit, see, respond, and understand the condition of our current orangutans. The support for orangutans was flowing in every way.

Another energy from AFO is the collective works of Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) supporters who are members of Orangufriends with several art communities such as Gigi Nyala, IAM Project, etc. All agreed that AFO is an art activity that is not to be affiliated with the interested parties of orangutans, especially for event supporters or sponsorship.

The fundraising is expected to cover the cost of gallery and musical instruments rental, catalogue printing and transportation for performers/panelists. BANTU ORANGUTAN LEWAT ART FOR ORANGUTAN
Seni adalah bahasa universal yang bisa diterima oleh orang banyak, akan menjadi jembatan untuk menyampaikan isu terkini pada apa yang terjadi dengan orangutan. Para seniman dengan kreatifitas tersendiri akan menyampaikan tema-tema orangutan melalui karyanya. Semangat itu yang dirangkum oleh Art for Orangutan (AFO) menjadi sebuah pameran seni yang banyak dikunjungi oleh orang.

Ada 122 karya seni dengan jumlah pengunjung sekitar 1500 orang saat AFO kedua di tahun 2016 yang lalu. Pameran yang berlangsung selama 4 hari ini menjadi magnet tersendiri untuk orang-orang datang, melihat, merespon dan mengerti hingga memahami kondisi orangutan terkini. Dukungan untuk orangutan pun mengalir dengan deras dengan caranya masing-masing.

Semangat lain dari AFO adalah kerja kolektif anggota pendukung Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) yang tergabung dalam Orangufriends dengan beberapa komunitas seni seperti Gigi Nyala, IAM Project dll. Semua sepakat bahwa AFO adalah kegiatan seni yang mencoba untuk tidak berkonflik kepentingan bagi orangutan, terutama dengan para pendukung acara atau sponsorship.

Penggalangan dana ini diharapkan bisa menutupi pengeluaran biaya seperti sewa galeri, alat musik, cetak katalog dan transportasi pengisi acara. COP SCHOOL ALUMNI BECOME ORANGUTAN MONITORING TEAM MEMBER

The annual school organized by the Center for Orangutan Protection spawns new seedlings of conservationists. They are Reza Dwi Kurniawan, COP School Batch 5, Lafizatun Azizah COP School Batch 6, drh. Flora and Pasianus Idam, COP School Batch 7, Widi Nursanti, COP School Batch 8. They all work together and live away from cellular signal and bustle of the city. The Lesan River Protected Forest (HLSL) is now their temporary place of residence to assist the monitoring process of released orangutan carried out by the East Kalimantan BKSDA assisted by the COP.

It is a very proud thing when COP alumni gathered and worked together to help save orangutans and remaining forests in East Kalimantan. “The regeneration works when new young individuals grow and develop in the activities of saving Indonesia’s biodiversity.”, said Daniek Hendarto, the head of the previous COP School.

Their activities are quite busy at HLSL, with the rangers they work from morning to dusk exploring the forest, watching the orangutans. At night, their work is not over yet. Ipeh, Lafizatun Azizah’s nickname, and Widi ensure that the recap data on monitoring and documentation is well documented and fully recorded in their records. Paianus Idam made sure map data from GPS was recorded perfectly. While Vet Flora evaluated the possibility of medical action if needed for orangutans. No matter how tiring the day is, reporting still needs to be done. Accompanied by hot coffee and tea they chatter about how their days went. From leeches sucking their blood to falling into wild boar mud puddles are among the entertaining topics before they lie down, and sleep.

“I am a person who always believe that when you plant good things, they will reap good seeds too. Like at the School COP, we plant a strong sense of mutual cooperation as a family and work with the heart. Because everything that starts from heart results in happiness and will produce good things including in this monitoring activity,” said Daniek Hendarto. Someday, COP will see them grow from a small school in the city of Yogyakarta, it’s called COP School. (EBO)

ALUMNI COP SCHOOL MENJADI TIM MONITORING ORANGUTAN
Sekolah tahunan yang diselenggarakan oleh Centre for Orangutan Protection menelurkan bibit penggiat konservasi baru. Ada Reza Dwi Kurniawan alumni COP School Batch 5, Lafizatun Azizah alumni COP School Batch 6, drh. Felisitas Flora dan Pasianus Idam yang merupakan alumni COP School Batch 7 serta Widi Nursanti alumni COP School Batch 8. Mereka berempat bahu membahu dan tinggal jauh dari sinyal dan hiruk pikuk kota. Hutan Lindung Sungai Lesan (HLSL) saat ini menjadi tempat tinggal mereka sementara waktu untuk membantu proses monitoring pelepasliaran orangutan yang dilakukan oleh BKSDA Kalimantan Timur dibantu oleh COP.

Ini adalah hal yang sangat membanggakan ketika para alumni sekolahan COP berkumpul dan bekerja bersama untuk membantu menyelamatkan orangutan dan hutan tersisa di Kalimantan Timur. Ini sebuah regenerasi yang berhasil ketika individu muda baru tumbuh dan berkembang dalam aktivitas penyelamatan keanekaragaman hayati Indonesia.”, ujar Daniek Hendarto, kepala sekolah COP School terdahulu.

Kegiatan mereka di HLSL cukup padat, bersama para ranger mereka bekerja dari pagi hingga malam menjelang untuk menjelajahi hutan, mengawasi orangutan. Di malam hari, pekerjaan mereka belum usai, Ipeh panggilan akrab Lafizatun Azizah bersama Widi memastikan data rekap monitoring dan dokumentasi terarsip baik dan terekap dengan lengkap dalam catatan mereka. Paianus Idam memastikan data peta dari GPS tercatat dengan sempurna. Sementara drh. Flora mengevaluasi kemungkinan tindakan medis jika diperlukan orangutan. Secapek apapun mereka, pelaporan tetap dilakukan. Ditemani kopi dan teh panas dengan obrolan bagaimana pacet menghisap darah hingga jatuh terperosok di kubangan lumpur babi hutan menjadi bumbu segar sebelum mereka merebahkan diri, tidur. (NIK)

THE CONFISCATED EAGLE FROM BANDUNG TRADERS IS FINALLY RELEASED

Do you still remember the arrest of a trader who sell 5 eagles in Nanjung Village, Margaasih, Bandung, West Java last March? The traders’ family terrorized APE Warrior team who helped and took care of the confiscated eagle.

Ary Bonong on August 16, 2018, was finally sentenced to 11 months in prison by the Bandung District Court. “Again the verdict is still far from the maximum punishment. Also, the punishment is still very far from the total loss that actually occurred”, said Hery Susanto, coordinator of COP Anti Wildlife Crime, with disappointment.

The confiscated eagle underwent rehabilitation at the Kamojang Eagle Conservation Center (PKEK). Seven months passed, one of the eagles from the Bandung trader was finally habituated for 30 days in the conservation area of Sancang Beach, Cibalong Garut. Iteung, the name of that white-bellied sea eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster) was finally released on November 20, 2018, by the vice-regent of Garut with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

“After a long process of rehabilitation, he finally found a way of freedom. Thank you PKEK for making his dream come true. Iteung flapped its wings again, free to return to the air”, said Daniek Hendarto, COP’s program manager of ex-situ conservation. “Don’t pet wild animals! Don’t sell protected wildlife!” added Daniek again. (IND)

ELANG SITAAN PEDAGANG BANDUNG, DILEPASLIARKAN
Masih ingat tertangkapnya pedagang 5 elang di desa Nanjung, kecamatan Margaasih, kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat bulan Maret 2018 yang lalu? Keluarga pedagang sesaat setelah penangkapan sempat meneror tim APE Warrior yang membantu merawat elang sitaan.

Ary Bonong pada tanggal 16 Augustus 2018 akhirnya dijatuhi vonis 11 bulan penjara oleh Pengadilan Negeri Bandung. “Lagi-lagi vonis masih jauh dari hukuman maksimal yang ada. Dan hukuman maksimal yang berlaku pun masih jauh dari jumlah kerugian yang sesungguhnya terjadi.”, ujar Hery Susanto, kordinator Anti Wildlife Crime COP dengan kecewa.

Kemudian elang sitaan tersebut menjalani rehabilitasi di Pusat Konservasi Elang Kamojang. Tujuh bulan berlalu, Iteung nama Elang Laut (Haliaeestus leucogaster), salah satu elang dari pedagang Bandung akhirnya dihabituasikan selama 30 hari di kawasan konservasi Pantai Sancang kecamatan Cibalong Garut. Dan pada 20 November 2018 kemarin, dilepasliarkan oleh wakil bupati Garut bersama Kementrian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan.

“Setelah proses lama untuk rehabilitasi akhirnya mereka menemukan jalan kebebasan. Terimakasih PKEK yang sudah membuat mimpi nyata Iteung kembali mengepakkan sayap, bebas kembali di udara.”, kata Daniek Hendarto, manajer program eks-situ COP dengan haru. “Jangan pelihara satwa liar! Jangan jualan satwa liar yang dilindungi!”, tambah Daniek lagi.

ORANGUTAN SHORT STORY WRITING COMPETITION

Art for Orangutan 2018, the 3rd art exhibition will be different from previous years. The special thing of AFO 2018 is we are not only reaching fine artists but also writers. For those of you who like writing, you are now invited to take an active role in the conservation of orangutans and other wildlife. Collect your short story for our writing competition no later than Sunday, January 6, 2019, at 23.00 WIB.

Competition terms:
– Each participant can only send one story
– The work has to be original and never been published in the media or any other competition
– Writing should be in proper and correct Indonesian
– The work is sent in Word format (.doc or .docx)
– The judges will select 10 best works to be published in a book and 3 best stories to be the winners.
– All short stories belong to the committee and copyrights remain to the authors
– The decision of the judges is absolute and cannot be disputed

CANCEL THE SQUIRREL HUNTING COMPETITION

Centre for Orangutan Protection is calling all the orangutfriends, to pay attention, disseminate, and thwart squirrel hunting competition!

The Boyolali snipers are forget that air rifles are in the Regulation of the Chief of Police No. 8/2012 concerning the control of firearms for sport activity. Very firmly, article 4 paragraph 3 states that “air rifles are used for sports of shooting targets. Article 5 paragraph 3 states “Air rifles are onlu used at the locatotion of matches or exercises.” “It’s the Chief of Police order, Mr. Inspector General of Police Drs. Condro Kirono, M.M., M.Hum.”.

Director General of Gakkum of Forestry Ministry (KLHK) issued a letter S.31 / PHLHK / PPH / GKM.2 / 3/2018 on March 16, 2018 to enforce the rules of the National Police above. May Gakkum not forget and be able to carry out the mandate of his own letter.

Perbakin had also issued a letter 257/SEKJEN/PB/III/2018 for all Perbakin Managers to not to shoot animals with air rifles. Once again, it was affirmed that shooting animals with airguns outside a shooting arena is against the law. Hopefully, it is only our friends from Sniper Boyolali who are forget, not the Chief of Central Java Regional Police and the Director General of GAKKUM KLHK, and Perbakin also. (SAR)

BATALKAN KOMPETISI BERBURU TUPAI!
Centre for Orangutan Protection memanggil seluruh orangufriends, untuk memperhatikan, menyebarluaskan dan menggagalkan kompetisi berburu tupai!

Sniper Boyolali lagi ‘lali’ kalau senapan angin di Peraturan Kapolri No 8/2012 tentang Pengawasan dan Pengendalian Senjata Api untuk Kepentingan Olahraga. Sangat tegas Kapolri membuat aturan di Pasal 4 ayat 3, “Senapan angin digunakan untuk kepentingan olahraga menembak sasaran atau target.”. Pasal 5 ayat 3, “Senapan angin hanya digunakan dilokasi pertandingan atau latihan.”. “Perintah Kapolri loh pak Inspektur Jenderal Polisi Drs. Condro Kirono, M.M., M.Hum.”.

Dirjen Gakkum KLHK mengeluarkan surat S.31/PHLHK/PPH/GKM.2/3/2018 tanggal 16 Maret 2018 untuk menegakkan aturan Kapolri di atas. Semoga Gakkum tidak lupa dan bisa menjalankan amanah suratnya sendiri.

Dan PERBAKIN juga sudah mengeluarkan edaran 257/SEKJEN/PB/III/2018 untuk seluruh Pengurus Perbakin untuk tidak menembak satwa dengan senapan angin. Sekali lagi ditegaskan bahwa menembak satwa dengan senapan angin di luar arena menembak adalah melanggar aturan hukum.

ART FOR ORANGUTAN: A GOOD LIFE FOR ORANGUTAN

Developments often forget the natural ecosystem. Forest inhabitants are intentionally eliminated for either this reason or from illegal hunting. So, is the life of an animal less valuable than human’s desire to develop? Is a decent life for animals not worth fighting?

For the third time, an art exhibition called Art For Orangutan will be back with topic “A Good Life for Orangutan”. Looking at the problems of a type of the closest species to human that is orangutan, artists are put their knowledge of orangutan problems into two, three, or even four dimensional arts.

Our hope, through the #artfororangutan3 exhibition, is that we will not be stuck in conflicting situations. Instead, we want to rethink the image of orangutans and how they will survive in the future from a different perspective: that orangutans are not only primates but also part of our lives.

Initiated by the Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) in collaboration with the Gigi Nyala community, the first Art for Orangutan (AFO) was held in February 2015 at the Jogja National Museum, entitled “Life for Umbrella Species”. For a second time, AFO was held in November 2016 at the same place, entitled “Refusing Extinction”. AFO itself is a charity exhibition held to campaign for the protection, rehabilitation and the end of violence against wildlife, especially orangutans. This time, we also want this event to resound through the #artfororangutan3 so we can be reminded that there are other creatures besides humans that have the right to a decent life and that can continue to exist.

GUIDELINES
#artfororangutan3 will be held on February 14-17 2019 at the Jogja National Museum (JNM), Yogyakarta. With the following conditions:
1. The artist or exhibitor should be interested in caring for wildlife and that they should be free to live in the wild.
2. The submitted work has a strong concept that is suitable to the theme. 3. Must follow on Instagram @orangutan_COP and @giginyala.
4. Participants must fill out the form and register online no later than Tuesday, January 15, 2019. (The registration link will not be accessible past that date).
5. A maximum of 3 (three) artworks can be submitted.
6. The registration fee per artwork is Rp. 50.003,- (lima puluh ribu tiga rupiah) for Indonesian artists and $10 USD (ten USD) for foreign artists. Payment must be received by February 5, 2019 and can be made to: BNI Bank account 1377888997 Centre for Orangutan Protection or by PayPal to hardi@orangutan.id / Centre for Orangutan Protection.
7. After making the transfer, please send proof of transfer to email: artfororangutan.tiga@gmail.com with the email subject: Artist Name_Title of Works.

9. The artist will get an exhibition certificate #artfororangutan3 in soft file / digital format which will be sent 5 days after the exhibition #artfororangutan3 and get an exhibition catalog which will be sent along with the return of the work.
10. The work submitted can be personal or collective / group work with any media. 11. The cost of shipping and returning artwork will be fully covered by the artist.
12. Packing work must be adjusted to the needs and security of the work. Delivery of works must be through a clear and legal shipping service.
13. Submitted work must be from the last 2 (two) years and never have been included in previous Art For Orangutan exhibitions.
14. The maximum size of 2D (two dimensional) work is 200 cm x 200 cm. The maximum size of 3D (three dimensional) work is H: 200 cm, W: 150 cm and L: 150
15. Copyright for works, oral and written statements given and made by artists is entirely the responsibility of the artist.
16. The committee has the right not to exhibit works received for reasons of politeness and propriety, especially those relating to pornography and racial intolerance. If this happens, #artfororangutan3 committee will notify the artist. The #artfororangutan3 exhibit will be visited by the general public with a variety of ages from children to adults.
17. The international deadline for sending artwork is Monday, January 14, 2019 (postmark). If sent past this date, the #artfororangutan3 committee has the right not to display the work.
18. The #artfororangutan3 committee is responsible for the ongoing process of the exhibition such as unpacking work upon arrival, installing, displaying and packing again.
19. The #artfororangutan3 committee will sell the work provided that the work is indeed allowed by the artist to be sold. 60% of the price will be given to the artist and 40% will be donated to the Center for Orangutan Protection.
20. Consignment of sales of work will continue for 2 weeks after the exhibition takes place. 21. The #artfororangutan3 committee will package and send the artist’s work to the
address that corresponds to the form sent at the cost provided by the artist.
22. Within 40 days after the exhibition is complete, if there is no confirmation from the artist to take or receive their packaged work, the Center for Orangutan Protection will have full rights to the work.
23. If anything else happens to the work and exhibition (force majeure) it will be resolved by deliberation and consensus.

Pembangunan sering sekali melupakan ekosistem alam. Penghuni hutan tersingkir secara sengaja dengan kehilangan rumahnya ataupun karena perburuan liar. Apakah nyawa seekor hewan tidak lebih berharga dibandingkan pembangunan tersebut? Apakah kehidupan tersebut tidak layak diperjuangkan?

Untuk ketiga kalinya, pameran seni rupa Art For Orangutan akan kembali hadir dengan tajuk “A Good Life For Orangutan”. Melihat permasalahan satu jenis individu yang sangat dekat sekali dengan manusia, yaitu orangutan. Bagaimana para pelaku seni memahami permasalahan orangutan dan mencoba menuangkannya dalam bentuk dua dimensi, tiga bahkan empat dimensi.

Tentu saja harapannya, Art For Orangutan tidak hanya terjebak pada situasi konfliktual, melainkan memikirkan kembali, imaji-imaji akan orangutan dan bagaimana keberlangsungannya di kemudian hari melalui perspektif lain. Bahwa orangutan bukan hanya primata, namun bagian dari kehidupan kita dengan ide-ide segar dan di luar kebiasaan.

Digagas oleh Centre for Orangutan (COP) yang bekerjasama dengan komunitas Gigi Nyala, AFO pertama kali pada Pebruari 2015 berjudul “Life for Umbrella Species” di Jogja Nasional Museum. Kali kedua dengan tajuk “Menolak Punah” diselenggarakan pada November 2016 di tempat yang sama. AFO merupakan pameran amal untuk kampanye perlindungan, rehabilitasi dan menghentikan kekerasan terhadap satwa liar, terutama orangutan. Kali ini, dengan tanda pagar, menggemakan #artfororangutan3 agar kita semua tidak lupa bahwa makhluk hidup lain berhak mendapatkan kehidupan layak dengan dijaganya keberlangsungan hidupnya.

PANDUAN
#ArtForOrangutan3 akan dilakukan pada tanggal 14-17 Februari 2019 di Jogja National Museum (JNM), Yogyakarta. Dengan ketentuan sebagai berikut :
1. Seniman atau peserta pameran memiliki semangat kepedulian terhadap satwa liar, bahwa satwa liar lebih layak dan indah hidup dialam.
2. Karya yang dikirimkan memiliki konsep yang kuat dengan kesesuaian tema.
3. Wajib follow Instagram @orangutan_COP dan @giginyala.
4. Peserta berkewajiban mengisi formulir dan batas akhir pendaftaran secara online paling lambat Senin, 21 Januari 2019. (Melebihi tanggal tersebut secara otomatis link pendaftaran tidak akan bisa diakses/dibuka).
5. Mengirimkan maksimal 3 (tiga) judul karya.
6. Peserta dalam Negeri membayar Rp. 50.003,- (lima puluh ribu tiga rupiah) dan seniman manca Negara membayar USD 10 (sepuluh dollar) untuk satu judul karya. Pembayaran ditransfer ke rekening BNI 1377888997 an. Centre for Orangutan Protection sebelum tanggal 5 Februari 2019.
7. Setelah melakukan transfer harap mengirimkan bukti transfer ke email: artfororangutan.tiga@gmail.com dengan judul email : Nama Peserta_Judul Karya.
8. Karya kemudian dikirimkan ke alamat sebagai berikut :

9. Peserta akan mendapatkan sertifikat keikutsertaan pameran #artfororangutan3 dalam bentuk softfile/digital yang akan dikirimkan 5 hari pasca pameran #artfororangutan3 dan mendapatkan katalog pameran yang akan diberikan bersamaan dengan pengembalian karya.
10. Karya yang dikirimkan bisa berupa karya personal atau kolektif/kelompok dengan media apapun.
11. Biaya pengiriman dan pengembalian karya sepenuhnya ditanggung oleh peserta.
12. Packing karya disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan dan keamanan karya. Pengiriman karya harus melalui jasa pengirim yang jelas dan legal.
13. Karya yang dikirimkan adalah karya terbaru dalam 2 (dua) tahun terakhir dan belum pernah diikutkan dalam pameran art for orangutan sebelumnya.
14. Ukuran maksimal karya 2D (dua dimensi) dengan ukuran maksimal 200 cm x 200 cm. 3D (tiga dimensi) dengan ukuran maksimal T: 200 cm, L: 150 cm dan P: 150 cm
15. Hak cipta atas karya, pernyataan lisan maupun tertulis yang diberikan dan dibuat oleh seniman adalah sepenuhnya tanggungjawab seniman.
16. Panitia berhak untuk tidak memamerkan karya yang diterima dengan alasan kesopanan dan kepatutan, terutama yang berhubungan dengan pornografi dan SARA. Jika ini terjadi, Panitia #artfororangutan3 akan melakukan konfirmasi kepada peserta. Pameran #artfororangutan3 akan dikunjungi oleh kalangan umum dengan variasi umur dari anak-anak hingga orang dewasa.
17. Batas akhir pengiriman karya adalah pada tanggal Jumat, 25 Januari 2019 (Cap Pos). Jika melebihi tanggal tersebut maka Panitia #artfororangutan3 berhak untuk tidak memamerkan karya tersebut.
18. Panitia #artfororangutan3 bertanggung jawab dalam proses berlangsungnya pameran seperti pembongkaran karya ketika datang, pemasangan, memamerkan dan packing kembali.
19. Panitia #artfororangutan3 akan melakukan penjualan karya dengan ketentuan bahwa karya tersebut memang oleh peserta diperkenankan untuk dijual. Dengan prosentase penjualan karya sebesar 60% dari harga karya yang terjual
menjadi hak seniman dan 40% didonasikan untuk Centre for Orangutan Protection.
20. Melakukan konsinyasi penjualan karya selama 2 minggu setelah pameran berlangsung.
21. Melakukan teknis pengembalian karya peserta ke alamat yang sesuai dengan formulir yang dikirim dengan biaya ditanggung oleh seniman.
22. Jika dalam waktu 40 hari setelah pameran selesai dan tidak ada konfirmasi dari peserta untuk mengambil atau siap menerima paketan karyanya kembali maka karya akan menjadi hak Centre for Orangutan Protection.
23. Jika ada hal lain yang terjadi terhadap karya dan acara pameran (force majeure) maka akan diselesaikan secara musyawarah dan mufakat.

COP AS THE BEST ENVIRONMENTAL CSO IN 2018

Today, the Center for Orangutan Protection received an Award from the Indonesian government as the best community organization of environment in 2018. The award was given directly by Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Tjahjo Kumolo. Besides the environmental sector, the government also gave awards to community organizations in health, education, culture, and other sectors.

This award was the first to be received by COP from the Indonesian government. COP was founded in 2007 and is the first and the only orangutan conservation organization native to Indonesia. The existence of COP has an impact not only for orangutans but also for local communities and various species of wildlife.

Thank you for all the trust and support of COP supporters and COP volunteers who are members of Orangufriends. This award belongs to all of you who have been working hard to combat wildlife crime.(IND)

COP SEBAGAI ORMAS LINGKUNGAN HIDUP TERBAIK 2018
Pada hari ini Pusat Perlindungan Orangutan mendapatkan Penghargaan dari Pemerintah Indonesia sebagai organisasi masyarakat di bidang lingkungan hidup terbaik tahun 2018. Penghargaan diberikan langsung oleh Menteri Dalam Negeri Tjahjo Kumolo. Selain bidang lingkungan hidup, pemerintah juga memberikan penghargaan kepada organisasi-organisasi masyarakat di bidang kesehatan, pendidikan, kebudayaan dan lain-lain.

Penghargaan ini adalah yang pertama diterima Pusat Perlindungan Orangutan atau lebih dikenal dengan Centre for Orangutan Protection (COP) dari pemerintah Indonesia. COP didirikan pada tahun 2007 dan merupakan oraganisasi konservasi orangutan yang pertama dan satu-satunya yang asli Indonesia. Keberadaan COP berdampak tidak hanya untuk orangutan tetapi juga untuk berbagai jenis satwa liar lainnya dan masyarakat setempat.

THERE ARE ORANGUTANS IN INDOCOMTECH 2018

This was the first time for Center for Orangutan Protection to participate at the electronic exhibition, Indocomtech at the Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan Jakarta. It all began with the unexpected invitation from the committee which turned out to be an extraordinary excitement. October 31 to November 4, starting at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Who else made it hillarious … yes Orangufriends, a support group for the Center for Orangutan Protection. Not only in Jakarta, Novi (Orangufriends Padang) also took time to stop after becoming an Animals Warrior volunteer in the tsunami earthquake in Palu, Central Sulawesi.

Only at the COP booth those who wanted to take pictures with orangutans are allowed. There were even 4 orangutans that could accompany you with your best style. There were also prizes for those who then upload to social media by tagging @orangutan_cop on Instagram. It was exciting! Of course, these orangutan dolls will stay silent, they won’t bite you or transmit their disease to you.

Do you still remember the campaign Orangutan is not a toy right? Yes, we share the same DNA with orangutans at 97%. If you have the flu, of course the orangutan can catch it from you so he becomes a cold. What if the opposite? Yes, if the orangutan is exposed to hepatitis, you can also get hepatitis from him. ADA ORANGUTAN DI INDOCOMTECH 2018
Ini adalah keikutsertaan Centre for Orangutan Protection yang pertama kali di acara pameran elektronik, Indocomtech di Jakarta Convention Center, Senayan Jakarta. Ini juga karena undangan dari panitia yang tak disangka ternyata menjadi keseruan luar biasa. 31 Oktober hingga 4 November mulai dari jam 09.00 pagi hingga 10.00 malam. Siapa lagi yang bikin ramai… ya orangufriends, kelompok pendukung Centre for Orangutan Protection. Tidak hanya yang di Jakarta loh, Novi (Orangufriends Padang) juga menyempatkan diri mampir usai menjadi relawan Animals Warrior di gempa tsunami Palu, Sulawesi Tengah.

Hanya di booth nya COP loh, untuk kamu yang ingin berfoto bersama dengan orangutan diperbolehkan. Bahkan ada 4 orangutan yang bisa menemani kamu dengan gaya terbaikmu. Ada hadiahnya juga untuk kamu yang lalu mengunggah ke media sosialmu dengan mencolek @orangutan_cop di instagram. Seru kan! Tentu saja, boneka orangutan ini akan diam saja, tidak akan mengigit kamu ataupun menularkan penyakit ke kamu.

Masih ingat kampanye Orangutan Bukan Mainan kan? Ya, kita berbagi DNA yang sama dengan orangutan sebesar 97%. Jika kamu flu, tentu saja orangutan bisa tertular dari kamu sehingga dia menjadi flu. Bagaimana jika sebaliknya? Ya, jika orangutan tersebut terkena hepatitis, kamu pun bisa tertular hepatitis darinya. Katakan tidak foto dengan orangutan ya! Kecuali boneka orangutan di booth COP Indocomtech.

A TALE BEFORE SLEEP FOR PALU CHILDREN

Due date of the Palu earthquake and tsunami disaster response that was extended to October 26 has come. Novi Fani Rovika, Orangufriends from Padang who has been a volunteer for Animals Warrior team in Central Sulawesi from October 18 will be back to West Sumatra soon. Hundreds of dogs and cats in Petobo and Balaroa was successfully being fed from donations on https://kitabisa.com/bantusatwapalu . Not only feed them, there was several dogs and cats that had to be evacuated to the shelter to get some treatment because of their condition.

There was not much time left, but the desire to meet the children in the refugee camp was the reason to go out on the last night in Palu. It’s simple, armed with a fable book, Novi started the night by storytelling. A tale before sleep for Palu children.

“Their school might be ruined by tsunami and went down by liquefaction. But it won’t shed their enthusiasm in learning. They’re not traumatise, even though the anxiety is still there. Even if they don’t know how long they will live in tents, they have to keep learning. Falling crumb one must be content with crust. Unable to study at school, they can still study in the middle of tent’s dim light. It’s this little thing that will be useful later. After all, they have to recover soon. Although sometimes it’s sad and heartbreaking, but they’re steadfast, even strong!, said Novi closing the night. (SAR)

DONGENG SEBELUM TIDUR UNTUK ANAK PALU
Tanggal tanggap bencana gempa dan tsunami Palu yang diperpanjang hingga 26 Oktober pun tiba. Novi Fani Rovika, orangufriends Padang yang menjadi relawan Animals Warrior di Sulawesi Tengah sejak 18 Oktober pun akan segera kembali ke Sumatera Barat. Ratusan anjing dan kucing yang berada di Petobo dan Balaroa berhasil diberi makan dari donasi yang masuk ke https://kitabisa.com/bantusatwapalu Tak hanya pemberian makanan saja, tetapi ada beberapa anjing dan kucing yang harus dievakuasi ke shelter anjing maupun kucing dan terus mendapatkan perawatan karena kondisinya.

Tak banyak waktu yang tersisa, tapi keinginan untuk bertemu dengan anak-anak di pengungsian menjadi alasan untuk keluar di malam hari-hari terakhir di Palu. Sederhana saja, dengan bermodalkan buku cerita satwa, Novi pun memulai malam ini dengan bercerita. Dongeng sebelum tidur untuk anak-anak Palu.

“Sekolah mereka… boleh saja diratakan oleh tsunami dan ditelan oleh likuifaksi. Tapi takkan mampu merontokkan semangat belajar mereka. Mereka tidak trauma, meski was-was itu ada. Meski entah sampai kapan akan menjalani hidup di tenda-tenda pengungsian, mereka harus tetap belajar. Tak ada rotan, akar pun jadi. Tak bisa belajar di gedung sekolah, di tengah temaran cahaya camp pengungsian pun jadi. Justru yang sedikit inilah akan sangat berguna nanti. Bagaimana pun, mereka harus segera pulih. Meski kadang sedih dan pilu mendera, tapi mereka tabah, bahkan kuat!”, ujar Novi menutup malam ini.

IT’S TIME FOR PLAYING WITH CHILDREN IN THE REFUGEE CAMP

“Copies of the image to be coloured, done. I have put in the markers for colouring, too. Well, today I escaped from the routine of animals caring in the clinic and shelter”, said Novi Fani Rovika, volunteer of Animals Warrior for the Palu earthquake and tsunami disaster.

Novi had spent her full week feeding dogs and cats who were left and abandoned by their owners in the earthquake and liquefaction area of Patobo and Balaroa Villages. She took care of several confiscated animals in the BKSDA Central Sulawesi and Tahura Kapopo, Sigi District, Central Sulawesi. She also shared her time caring for dogs in Palu Dog Lover shelter and for cats at Mrs. Ana’s shelter, with around 80 cats. Now, it’s time to interact with children in the refugee camp, who still have time to think about cats and dogs in Patobo and Balaroa.

It starts with singing together, playing, telling stories and colouring images. Suddenly, 90 minutes passed. Their smile brings happiness to me. All the 20 elementary students from 4-5 grade finally can hold paper and colour markers again after the disaster. “Let’s color our life, kids!” said Novi with enthusiasm. (IND)

SAATNYA BERMAIN DENGAN ANAK-ANAK DI PENGUNGSIAN PALU
“Fotokopi gambar yang akan diwarnai, sudah. Spidol untuk mewarnai juga sudah kumasukkan tas. Baiklah hari ini melarikan diri dari rutinitas merawat satwa di klinik dan shelter.”, gumam Novi Fani Rovika, relawan Animals Warrior untuk bencana gempa dan tsunami Palu.

Setelah seminggu penuh mengisi hari-hari dengan memberi makan anjing, kucing di daerah bencana gempa dan likuifaksi kelurahan Patobo dan Balaroa yang ditinggal mengungsi penghuninya. Novi juga mengurus beberapa satwa sitaan di BKSDA Sulteng dan Tahura Kapopo, kabupaten Sigi, Sulawesi Tengah. Novi juga berbagi waktu merawat anjing di shelter Palu Dog Lover maupun kucing-kucing di shelter ibu Ana yang jumlahnya mencapai 80-an kucing. Saatnya berinteraksi dengan anak-anak di pengungsian, yang masih juga sempat memikirkan nasib kucing maupun anjing yang mereka tinggal di Patobo maupun Balaroa.

Dimulai dengan bernyanyi bersama, bermain, bercerita dan ditutup dengan mewarnai tak terasa 90 menit pun berlalu. Senyum mereka adalah senyum bahagiaku. Keduapuluh anak kelas 4-5 SD ini pun kembali bisa memegang kertas dan spidol warna kembali. “Ayo warnai kehidupan, anak-anak!”, ujar Novi dengan semangat.
