MEMO THE GREAT PITCHER OF COP BORNEO
One time when the animal keepers were on their holiday, we (the volunteers) were asked to help clean the septic tank in each cage area. One of the septic tank is placed right next to the Memo’s cage. With a curious mind, Memo watched the five of us with Flora as the vet took turns in digging and moving the dirt from the septic tank.
However, when we were busy with cleaning, suddenly we heard something.
“Duk…”
A red tomato rolled next to us. It turns out that Memo threw us with some left over fruits.
Indeed, Memo is famous as a great pitcher in COP Borneo. Some of us have tasted her sharp shot of tomatoes or eggplants. And we usually try to remind her not to threw away and waste her foods.
Memo is a clever orangutan, but unfortunately Memo can not be released to the wild because she has a history of Hepatitis B. That’s why she tried to do anything to amused herself and to reduce her boredom and curiosity.
Only this time it seemed that Memo was trying to attract our attention so we did not just pay attention to the almost empty septic tank but also play with her.
Okay Memo, please be patient, we will immediately pay attention to you after we finish clean the septic tank. (LDS)
MEMO SI PELEMPAR JITU DI COP BORNEO
Suatu kali ketika para perawat satwa sedang libur, kami para relawan diminta untuk membantu membersihkan septic tank di setiap area kandang. Salah satu septic tank berada tepat di samping kandang Memo. Dengan penasaran Memo memperhatikan kami berlima bersama drh. Flora yang sedang bergantian menggali dan memindahkan kotoran dari dalam septic tank.
Namun ketika sedang sibuk-sibuknya dan khusyuk membersihkan septic tank, tiba-tiba terdengar sebuah suara.
“Duk…”
Sebuah tomat merah menggelinding terjatuh di dekat kami. Ternyata Memo dengan isengnya melempari kami dengan buah-buah yang beum dimakannya.
Memang, Memo terkenal sebagai pelempar ulung. Beberapa dari kami sudah merasakan tomat atau terong lemparannya yang jitu. Dan kami sering kali berusaha mengingatkannya untuk tidak membuang-buang makanannya.
Memo adalah orangutan yang pintar, namun sayangnya Memo tidak dapat dilepasliarkan karena memiliki riwayat penyakit Hepatitis B. Oleh karena itu, berbagai cara ia lakukan untuk sekedar mengurangi rasa bosan dan penasarannya.
Hanya kali ini, sepertinya Memo memang berusaha menarik perhatian kami agar tidak hanya memperhatikan septic tank yang sudah hampir kosong itu dan bermain dengan dirinya.
Baiklah Memo, sabar ya… setelah selesai kami akan segera memperhatikan dirimu lagi. (LDS)
