UNYIL SURVIVES AFTER THE RELEASE IN THE HABITAT
Unyil, an orangutan with his background evacuated from the bathroom of a resident in Muara Wahau, East Kalimantan has been released back to his new habitat on April 11, 2019. In his remarks the Head of Collaborative Information Data, Ir. Eded Suryadi, MM said that the Dipterokarpa Forest Ecosystem Research and Development Center (B2P2EHD) is very concerned about the existence of orangutans and their ecosystems. All parties are expected to be able to provide support to the COP in order to continue to handle Orangutan Protection.
KHDTK (Special Purpose Forest Area) for the Labanan Research Forest is located in Berau district, East Kalimantan which is managed by B2P2EHD since 2014 in collaboration with the Orangutan Rescue and Rehabilitation Development. “Orangutan protection from extinction is our shared responsibility. Luckily we got a location where the best rainforests of Kalimantan are located. Forest schools are a favourite place for small orangutans to practice growing their instincts, “said Daniek Hendarto, action manager for the Center for Orangutan Protection.
For three months after the release of Unyil, the APE Guardian team (orangutan release monitoring team) recorded to have met the orangutan four times. Unyil looks capable of surviving in its new habitat. “He seems to lose his weight, but that is a natural thing. These three months will certainly be a difficult time and a very liberating period. UNYIL BERTAHAN SETELAH PELEPASLIARAN DI HABITAT BARUNYA
Unyil, orangutan dengan latar belakang dievakuasi dari kamar mandi seorang warga di Muara Wahau, Kalimantan Timur telah dilepasliarkan kembali ke habitatnya yang baru pada 11 April 2019. Dalam sambutan Kepala Bidang Data Informasi Kerjasama Ir. Eded Suryadi, MM mengatakan Balai Besar Penelitian dan Pengembangan Ekosistem Hutan Dipterokarpa (B2P2EHD) sangat peduli pada keberadaan orangutan dan ekosistemnya. Semua kalangan diharapkan dapat memberikan dukungan pada COP agar dapat terus menangani Perlindungan Orangutan.
KHDTK (Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus) untuk Hutan Penelitian Labanan berada di kabupaten Berau, Kalimantan Timur yang dikelola oleh B2P2EHD ini sudah sejak tahun 2014 bekerjasama untuk Pembangunan Penyelamatan dan Rehabilitasi Orangutan. “Perlindungan Orangutan dari kepunahan adalah tanggung jawab kita bersama. Beruntung sekali kami dapat lokasi dimana hutan hujan terbaik Kalimantan berada. Sekolah Hutan menjadi tempat favorit orangutan kecil untuk berlatih menumbuhkan instingnya.”, ujar Daniek Hendarto, manajer aksi Centre for Orangutan Protection.
Selama tiga bulan setelah pelepasliaran Unyil, tim APE Guardian (tim monitoring pelepasliaran orangutan) tercatat berjumpa sebanyak empat kali. Unyil terlihat mampu bertahan di habitatnya yang baru. “Dia terlihat kehilangan bobotnya, tapi itu adalah hal yang wajar. Tiga bulan ini tentu menjadi masa sulit sekaliguskan masa yang sangat membebaskan. Unyil juga terlihat tidak suka bertemu dengan tim. Good job Unyil!”, ujar Reza Kurniawan, manajer COP Borneo, Berau, Kalimantan Timur.
