WHAT’S UP WITH UNTUNG?

Being in nature makes life easier. Like the proliferation of outbound activities in various tourist attractions in Indonesia. Just say traditional games by utilizing materials around us, such as re-introducing walking with coconut shells, egrang, breaking stones, jumping rope and so on. Then what about orangutans? Is the playing world the same as humans?

Heavy rain washed away a coconut tree during the flood. And it’s been week, Untung and Unyil orangutans were not seen inside the orangutan island. Patrols were intensified, again they were both seen on the stranded coconut tree. Not only coconut trees, there are several large trees which are also stranded at the end of the pre-release island of this orangutan. What did the two orangutans do?

Yes, they are hanging on the tree. Repeatedly herded to go inside the island, repeatedly also Untung turned away to patrol the team. Until finally the team decided to cut the trees so that the two orangutans could not play in the open space again. Why did the team do that? For four days, Untung did not approach the food sent by the patrol team. The team were worried because Untung didn’t seem to eat at all. The reality was …

It turned out that the coconut tree was full of coconuts. The food was really abundant and Untung became very interested in his new discovery. The patrol team found coconut remains on other tree trunks, maybe a lot of them were washed away too. “Now Untung is really angry. He didn’t care anymore when the patrol team call his name. At mealtime, he chose to be in his nest. Alright Untung, next month you will really be in your habitat. Hopefully your anger will be paid off when you return to your real home, “said Daniel, coordinator of the COP Borneo orangutan island. (EBO)

(Anen).
