HOW IS POPI DOING?

“I will cry if I couldn’t get off from the tree and immediately asleep if I’m tired of playing.”
Who else is it if it’s not Popi, the 11 months old baby orangutan.

Forest school must be the hardest thing for Popi. Because in forest school, Popi is forced to climb the tree. Wety, the baby sitter is going to scare Popi rattan if she isn’t quick enough to reach and climb the branches near her.

In other time Popi could quickly climb and also immediately climb down. The animal keeper have to keep their eyes on her and carry her to climb the tree again. The question is always who is stronger? The animal keeper that wants Popi on the trees or Popi that loves the ground?

The unique thing is that once she is having fun climbing, Popi would not really care about the height of the tree. Soon we would be able to hear her cry because she couldn’t climb down.

“If Popi is already too tired she will come down and join the animal keeper to the hammock and sleep hugging the Animal keeper.”, said Lina the Animal Keeper. Maybe her instinct is told her to sleep under the embrace of her mom, she must love the hug from her mother. Hearing her mother heartbeat and the rhythm of her mother breath makes her comfortable and fell immediately asleep.
“It is sad to think about how Popi belongs with her mom and how she must be missing her mother”, said Lina softly.

“It is not only Popi that frequently fell asleep in the Forest School. When orangutan Happi was 10 months old, she liked to sleep in the Forest School.”, said Danel, the coordinator of Animal Keeper.

Just like human, orangutan like to have an afternoon nap. Especially the babies have longer nap time. Even human babies could fall asleep when they are eating or talking, the same thing goes for Baby Orangutan. When the sleepiness came, wherever and whenever, they would be found sleeping. APAKABAR POPI?

(WET)
